While many Delray Beach restaurants are hanging on for dear life during the summer, that’s not the case at Conch Cravings, 1191 N. Federal Highway. According to chef owner, Gloria Dean, there have been “lines out the door” for this authentic Caribbean street food eatery that opened in June, located diagonally across Federal Highway from the 5150 Chocolate Factory.
Chef Dean has had to give up her other job to keep up demand for her fresh crab, lobster, shrimp, conch salads, amongst other island favorites from the perfectly curated, “tight menu”.
My wife’s cravings have gotten us back again for perfectly flavored, pancake style, conch fritters, while I have a hard time deciding between sinfully fried cracked conch, fish or shrimp dinners. Everything seems to come with the crunchy, otherworldly french fries reminiscent of the ones service in up in Istanbul, the Plaka in Athens, or anywhere in the south of France.
Conch Cravings may just be the best street food offering in Delray Beach. I suggest you get there before the snowbirds discover this newly opened gem.
